There is no other city similar than Dubai. It´s in fact a city of SUPERLATIVES right in the desert of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is a twirling mixture of old and new with a dazzling twist. Once you set foot in this spectacular city you will never want to leave.
This city has both, the modern world and traditional arabic culture combined. It leaves you speechless and amazed.
Dubai is a city full of adventures and possibilities there are no limits. This is a DUBAI TRAVEL GUIDE for the things you definitely MUST do when coming to Dubai. So lets get started…
Burj Khalifa – On Top Of The World
This huge building will take your breath away. With around 829 meters in height, is this building the tallest in the world. This tower has a great impact in this cities extravagance.
We booked a ticket to the 124th floor of BURJ KHALIFA and went all the way up to the outside platform from where you have the best view of Dubai and the vast desert. From up here you realize how crazy this city is. It´s built right into the desert with nothing around it but sand and dunes. It´s a breathtaking view with an indescribable feeling. Prepare for goosebumps!!
Old Dubai – Dive Into The Arabic Culture
This part of Dubai is actually one of my most favourite parts. AL BASTAKIYA, DUBAI SOUKS and the whole area around DUBAI GREEK. This is the older part of Dubai which comes with a lot of arabic culture and invites you to dive into these old customs and traditions. You will find a variety of herbs and spices, clothes, jewellery and more.
I never felt so close to the origins of Dubai than in this area. This magical place brings you back in time and leads you through a labyrinth of narrow pathways and abandoned roads.
La Mer – The Hippest Beachfront In Dubai
LA MER (http://www.lamerdubai.ae) is a beachfront you wouldn’t expect in the mostly conservative Dubai. It´s definitely the coolest and hippest beachfront destination in Dubai – if not in the whole UAE. Definitely worth a visit. LA MER is a wonderful place to spend the whole day. Tanning at the white beaches, strolling through the many shops and stores, eating in one of the many fancy restaurant and watching the sunset.
Once the sun is down this area transforms into a magical place.
Here the dress code is not so strick anymore. You allowed to wear bikini and bathing suit. Just don’t tan topless!
Dubai Desert – A Place Of Silence And Vastness
While downtown Dubai is all about superlatives the DESERT of DUBAI is all about silence and vastness. It felt like a honour to set foot into this magical place. Seeing the sun go down and the camels wander through the sand just gives you goosebumps. We booked our DUBAI DESERT TOUR with ARABIAN ADVENTURES. But I can also recommend PLATINUM HERITAGE TOURS for a little more luxurious Dubai Safaris.
They pick you up from the hotel, bring you right into the desert, and invite you to a bedouin tent to experience the old customs of the people living in the desert. We had amazing food in a mystical atmosphere. While a traditional arabic dance is performed and the sunset covers the area in a light orange we had the possibility to ride camels and get a henna tattoo. It was the perfect moment.
Downtown Dubai By Night – Level 43 Sky Lounge
We had lots of crazy days here in this amazing city. And once in a while we ended these days at the LEVEL 43 SKY LOUNGE of Four Points by Sheraton. Get yourself one of the delicious extravagant drinks, take a deep breath and just gaze down into downtown. You will see the Sheikh Zayed Road and all it´s skyscrapers, one higher than the other. This is an unforgettable view and the perfect way to end an unforgettable stay in Dubai.
Roberto Bolano once said “Every hundred feet, the world changes.” Nowhere you can experience this as much as in Dubai.
