Hello friends! We are Michele and Chiara , a travel couple. We want to tell you about our day in Santo Stefano di Sessanio, an enchanted village. We are talking about a small village in the center of Italy, exactly in Abruzzo, with only 115 inhabitants. We don’t lie: it wasn’t one of our favourite places to visit but when we arrived there, it was like a spell! Time seemed to have stopped.
That morning the weather wasn’t good; infact as soon as we arrived, a storm hit us. We didn’t give up and we ventured, also for hunger. We had lunch at ‘’Nonna Peppina’’, a very small inn under the arches, a quiet place sheltered from the rain. We immediately noticed that the town was completely in stone: houses, roads, fountains and arches; impossible not to notice the presence of many trattorias and stores crowded with tourists.
Suddenly, strolling through the alleys, we came across an enchanted corner. An ice-cream shop with attention to the smallest details (see the photos below) . Everything seemed to be in its perfect place! A corner covered with ivy, benches with decorated pillows, and lights that made atmosphere magical. It looked like one of those beautiful postcards and we felt part of it!
Seemed to be in another era. There aren’t supermarket or big building but only silence, nature and a great respect for tourists. Infact all the passers greeted us smiling.
