Hello! My name is Karen, I’m a Belgian girl who loves to travel. I have already travelled a lot, but south Goa really stole my heart!
Why? Because it’s a secluded paradise where you won’t encounter many tourists! Let me show you the 5 best beaches in south Goa!
#5 AGONDA BEACH
Agonda is a local town in south Goa, it’s the perfect base to stay and explore the environment from here. It’s located between Palolem and Cola beach. Agonda has a beautiful stretched beach of 3km! You can take beautiful walks here and if you walk all the way to the end of the beach, you will find paradise! A little river flows into the ocean, you can see monkeys jumping in the distance, even snakes find their peace here too… But don’t worry, they are more afraid of you than you are of them 😉 I recommend climbing over the rocks you’ll find at the end of this beach to explore some more secluded beaches. You’ll really feel like Robinson here!
#4 PALOLEM BEACH
If you are looking for some cool bars, Palolem beach is the place to be. I guess this is the most touristic beach in southern Goa. In contrast to other beaches, this beach is truly alive. Tourist and local people come here to chill, have a drink and enjoy the nice weather. Again, if you walk to the end of this beach, you find yourself walking into a different world. At the end of Palolem beach, you’ll see the Goan hills behind you, you’ll find a river where monkeys live in the mangroves and you’ll see a lot of eagles. We even spotted a kingfisher here in this piece of nature! And if you’ll cross the river, you’ll even find some sharks… 😉
#3 COLA BEACH
If you’ll rent a scooter and are willing to conquer some off road ways, Cola beach is a piece of art! What I liked so much about this beach, is that you’ll find the ocean here as well as you’ll find a nice sweet water river here where you can relax in! You probably won’t find any other tourists here so you can relax in your own paradise! This beach was like a dream coming true!
#2 CABO DA RAMA BEACH
Cabo da rama, I just love you! Cabo da rama beach, is located a few kilometers from Cabo da rama fort. (Is also a must visit!). If you walk all the way down to this beach you’ll find Indian paradise! The first time we went to this beach (on a weekday) we were completely on our own here. We swam in the sea and sought refreshment in the shade under the palm trees, in a refreshing stream. Cabo da rama beach is also a fairly large beach where you’ll only find your own footsteps in the sand!
Because we loved this place so much, we came back a 2nd time, during the weekend. During this time of the week, many Indian families gather here to join and have dinner together. Many kids were playing in the water, playing football on the beach, … We loved seeing how the locals spend their weekends together, kids playing, and families washed their clothes in the river.
#1 KAKOLEM BEACH
This beach stole my heart! Kakolem beach is my definition of paradise! This beach was even so secluded that you had to walk a steep way down through bushes, encountering some snakes and monkeys throwing coconuts (I guess they were trying to open them). But… It was SO worth it. The chance that you’ll find some other tourists on this beach is really low. I loved how tropical this beach looks. So if you’re looking for some adventure and you want to have your own personal paradise, just visit Kakolem beach!
