This is our third piece of our new series ‘travel blogger of the week’. Every monday we will interview travellers from around the world who inspire us through their travels and their personal stories. This week we got to know Brigitte from Alittleblondeinparadise.

Thank you for taking the time out to answer our questions. Could you give us a short introduction about yourself?

My name is Brigitte and I’m a 22 year old Dutch girl, born and raised in Haarlem. I’ve just finished my bachelor in Business Administration and will study abroad in Barcelona for 5 months from september. Besides my study I work in a really nice restaurant as a waitress and work as social media advisor.

Could you describe the moment you have been bitten by the travel bug?

Since I was a little girl, my parents used to take me with them all over the world. That way I became addicted to traveling at a very young age and it has never stopped. Especially the first time in China when I was 15 years old has made an enormous impression on me, all those big cities, it’s insane!

How many countries have you been to?

I have been to 29 countries so far!

How do you decide where to go next?

Mostly I am getting my travel inspiration from other bloggers and Instagram. Sometimes I just check the cheapest destinations but mostly when I have something in my mind it will definitely become my next destination. Now I am thinking about the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Argentina.

Why did you start with your blog and what do you want to accomplish?

I started with Instagram one year ago and with my blog in October 2016. I created a second Instagram account because I didn’t want to bother my friends with all those travel photos. I just wanted to post my photos and had nothing in mind. When I found out about the enormous world behind it I got curious and wanted more, more, more. Also, because I have studied business administration, social media is one of my interests and I want to learn more about working with it. I have still no clue about what to do with my IG and blog, but for now I will keep posting and I guess I will find out some day how this ends!

What is your advice for someone wanting to start a similar blog to yours?

Just go for it! I have learned so much the past few months and really, I am still learning new things. Try to read some blogs and create your own style. Do you want to become a travel blogger or more a lifestyle blogger etc. That’s something you should think off before you start writing. Also make sure you create good content and I advise reading a book about writing and editing photos!

How do you make money travelling?

I don’t! I work as hard as possible besides my studies and save money for my next trips. I always make a budget and try to combine luxury and basic needs. I would love to make money with traveling some day, but for now that’s only a dream! However, I do have a really awesome job at this moment as social media advisor for two restaurants and I can work for those restaurants wherever I want, so basically I am making money on my travels but not with my travel account or blog.

What are the top 3 locations you want to visit?

Haha, if I could I would love to go to Hawaii, the Maldives and Madagascar.. For now those destinations will be a dream. But hey, sometimes it is good to have dreams and make them come true some day!travel community: travel blogger

What has been your favorite and least favorite thing about living on the road?

My favorite thing is the feeling of freedom, meeting new people and learning about other cultures. Traveling really does make you richer in so many ways. However, some stupid little things are important to me like good coffee, your own bed and so on. When traveling, I miss those things!

What is the worst place you’ve travelled?

Ooh that’s a hard one.. Let me think. I don’t think I have one.. Maybe the toughest places were in Central America, especially Guatemala and El Salvador because of the safety. But even those countries are really amazing and worth visiting if you’re good prepared.

What is one of the funniest things that happened on your travels?

Haha, once I was on a city trip with a friend to Budapest. We were just walking at the boulevard and someone shouted; Hey, are you a little blonde in paradise?! I was like.. what?! How is this possible? It was a Dutch girl who recognized me and it was really amazing to experience that this world is actually much smaller than we think sometimes!

Do you have a favorite place in this world?

No, I don’t. There are a lot of places that have a special place in my heart, but I can’t live at one place for the rest of my live. The world is full of beautiful countries and cities and I want to keep exploring them. Maybe someday I will end somewhere nice, but for now I don’t have one home.

Would you ever settle down? If so, which country?

I think so. I think I will live at several places for a few years or months just to experience some other cultures and learn things from local people. But I will have always a preference for Europe/America, because I like the western culture. Living in China for example might be a little bit too complicated for me (language struggles and traditions and so on ;).
